Yep, today we got some lettuce and radishes started in the greenhouse. This is the first year we have done this. I put some planter boxes on the ground, filled them with potting soil and watered in the seeds. Let's see how our little experiment goes. Overnight in the greenhouse has bee about 44 to 46 degrees.
It has been above freezing overnight for a couple of nights in a row. Yea! 70 degrees for the high today.
Finished transplanting the mums and the iris today.
Tomorrow Hubby and I need to clean the house since his folks are coming for early dinner.

Transplanting Mania
Transplanting mania continues. This morning I got the last little pine tree in. I place it behind the hay shed. I also reworked the drip around the sea berry. Then I put in three of the five gallon sized honeysuckle shrubs around the back and sides of the shed. I gave them plenty of room since they are going to be more like small trees. Got the drip on those.
I got all 20 of the Silver Buffalo berries in they all went on the west side of the garden. Hope that hedge grows fast. Cannot wait to have wind protection for the garden. I got the drip in on those as well. I am watering those for a couple of hours.
That leaves me the 10 Amur maples and 2 fern leaf yarrow and 2 honeysuckles to do later. Wind willing:)
I got 5 tiny transplants from the neighbor of catmint. Sure hope those live. Back to work after my cup of coffee.
Alright, got some weeding done and fed the goats weeds only this evening.
Terry the neighbor gave me some watermelon for the goats. They looked so cute and funny chewing on the watermelon, juice dribbling down their goat chins. They really thought that was a treat.
Transplanted about 15 of the cosmos I grew this year. Got the catmint in. Running out of oomph and daylight. Trying to water each zone with new guys for an hour and then, finally, time to get in the shoer, get the mud off and put my feet up. Have to watch Sister Wives tonight. I should write something about them.
Watering fruit tree zone overnight.

Transplanting Mania
Yep, I was going to keep it simple this year but NOOOO! I have transplanted 50 zinnia into the new annual garden area [25 State FAir and 25 Cactus] and about 25 candy stripe cosmos. I have a few of each of those left and will be putting them? Grew them myself using the new greenhouse!
Gave some tomato plants to my nice neighbor, Terry. She likes gardening too. Grew those in the greenhouse. Fun!
The greenhouse I built myself. I'm always so proud when I build something and it works like it is supposed to. Of course, Hubby did help a bunch on the greenhouse but I can honestly say the concept and walls, roof, shingles, turbine air vent and doors and extra ventilation window and straw insulation are all me. Plus, the pond inside - I did that.
Enough tooting my own horn. Also, transplanted about 7 of the Austrian pines. Doesn't sound like much but you also have to get drip on each one as you go. Definitely time for a break and then, there is more to do.
Well, I got a total of 19 little baby pine trees planted today. I have one left and I think it needs to go in the raspberry area. I also got every one of those little trees on the drip. Most of the pines went on the east side of the house but I did put four of them in along the imaginary driveway to the back 2 acres. Plenty left to do tomorrow. 20 Buffalo berries and 5 honeysuckles in five gallon pots. Those will be five large holes to dig. I also have 2 fern leaf yarrow to put in on the back berm.

Spring Garden
Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy! My seed flats are already coming to life.
Cosmos is popping up.
Zinnias are working it.
Basil just starting to show.
Marigolds looking good.
I love spring.
I got a new gadget for the irrigation system. It is a tank you hook up. You put fertilizer in it and it dispenses it over the next one or two hours to all the plants on the line. I tried it and it works! Now we have to see if the plants are growing better over the next week or two.
Looks like the transplanted plants in the newly redone front window garden are all happy. I don't know if all the lavender lived...yet. Have to give it some more time.
Today I need to work on the "spring garden" I am planning for the dog kennel area. I think there are a number of plants that can be consolidated over there and they will do better than in the south facing "under the front window garden". Snow stars, daffodils, Japanese iris, a couple of Shasta daisies are going to planted around the Medlar fruit tree [yes, it is some sort of weird European fruit], 2 forsythia I am moving out of the dog kennel area to the front of the dog kennel area, along with one currant. It is lovely, cool and less windy so the spring plants will like it, I think.
Hoping to clean out the goat pen. They have been a bit neglected in that I have pulled the straw out of the shed and just left it lying in the pen. The winds have been atrocious and when it hasn't been windy I have had to get the transplanting done that I need to accomplish SOON. Before I know long it will be warming up considerably and I need these transplants to have time to settle in.
Cool, cloudy and probably windy again later. Gotta get busy.
